Septimus Rot. Lives in: A crumbling pile by the beach in the town of Jail. Occupation: Work Shy Fop. Comments: Septimus has dedicated his life to living as far beyond his means as possible and spending as much time as he possibly can in his bed. He lives in a crumbling ruin with his better half - Little Crime, and his cat - Pie. Little Crime likes firearms and Pie likes biting Septimus' nose. Rot's crumbling ruin, located as it is near the beach, has a dull view of the sea which beats itself against the grey, pumice-coloured Jailite sand with a lack of enthusiasm remarkable in the natural world, as if the forces that usually drive these things have given up and gone off to find something more worthwhile to occupy their time. The house is not in the best area of town (the north) but nor is it in the worst (the south.) It is in an area that once aspired to an imitation of gentility. Some of the other houses in the streets around it have been maintained by their owners while the rest are shoddy, shabby, with cracks in the wood of the doors and irregular gouges showing off the different layers of building materials embedded in the walls. Stray people and packs of thieves and other predators walk along the beach.
